Curated by Paul Branton and A Film Called Black for HOSTE, this four-month artist residency and exhibition explores Chicago’s Black musical legacy from 1920–1980 through Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Soul, Funk, R&B, and House.

The program traces how these sounds continue to shape Chicago’s musical landscape and influence music globally today. Through live performances, curated DJ sets, art exhibitions, and special guests, the residency bridges Chicago’s rich musical past with the city’s thriving contemporary music scene and its global impact.
